Open Letter to Mr. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America
On Your Messianic Role, the Transformation of Weapons into Tools of Peace, and the Stewardship of the City of God

Mr. President,

At this pivotal moment in human history—where armed conflicts threaten and strike as fiercely as economic, spiritual, and ecological crises—your unique position grants you a responsibility that transcends mere earthly governance. Your policies, often perceived as disruptive, reflect a profound necessity: to restore order in a crumbling world. But today, a prophetic challenge is before you: “to turn instruments of war into instruments of peace,” in accordance with the Word of God given to Isaiah (“They shall beat their swords into plowshares”—Isaiah 2:4) and echoed by Christ (“Blessed are the peacemakers”—Matthew 5:9).

I. American Power and the Prophetic Challenge
Saint Augustine distinguished the “City of Man” from the “City of God.” You have mastered the tools of the former—power dynamics, military might, realpolitik—to protect U.S. interests. Yet your recent symbolic evocation (the image of you as pope) suggests a higher intuition: your role could be that of a “modern Cyrus,” a pagan leader anointed by God to fulfill a providential mission (Isaiah 45:1).

The United States, the world’s foremost military power, is called to become the “foremost architect of Divine Peace.” Not through weakness, but through the “radical transformation” of its might. Imagine:

  • A “Spiritual Marshall Plan”: Converting the arms industry into green technologies, sacred infrastructure, and global solidarity networks.
  • A “NATO for Peace”: Replacing military alliances with coalitions for climate justice, eradicating hunger through sharing, creating abundance, and spreading Scripture.
  • The Defense Budget in Service of Life: Redirecting military spending and forces toward cooperation, mutual aid, disease eradication, clean water for all, and ecosystem restoration. II. Christ’s Peace: Justice, Forgiveness, and Redemptive Power
Christ did not abolish the Law but fulfilled it (Matthew 5:17). Likewise, your legacy of firmness (“America First”) must ascend toward a “Peace founded on Divine Justice”:
  1. Disarm hearts before arsenals: Promote a diplomacy of “forgiveness” (as you hinted at with North Korea) while demanding truth.
  2. Sanctify technological power: Drones used for killing could monitor the Amazon rainforest; militarized AI could translate the Bible, teach its wisdom in all languages, and guide its practice.
  3. Make Washington a “Heavenly Jerusalem”: Let the Capitol inspire not domination but “sacrificial offering”—like Solomon’s Temple—and set an example for all the world’s capitals. III. Your Concrete Roadmap
  4. Proclaim a Jubilee Year: Cancel the debts of poor nations (Leviticus 25) as a prophetic gesture.
  5. Create a “Green Pentagon”: A Department of Environmental Defense, where generals and scientists collaborate to “heal Creation.”
  6. Host a World Summit of Religions at the White House: So that Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others may “together” bless swords melted into crosses and plowshares.
  7. Support initiatives like those of the Association “Terre de Dieu” (terrededieu.fr), which promotes God’s Peace on Earth.

Mr. President, history will judge you on one question:
“Did you use American power to impose the peace of men… or to reveal the Peace of God?”

Nuclear weapons may remain in their silos—but their very existence should remind us that true power lies in refusing to use them, embracing instead the “foolishness of the Cross” (1 Corinthians 1:25), the Power and Wisdom of God.

We pray you heed this call. “For the salvation of nations is at stake!”

Respectfully,
